Dr Ndashe Kapulu, Director of Agriculture at Zambia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Chairperson of the IRLCO-CSA Executive Committee, visited the Organisation’s current headquarters and the site of its proposed new headquarters in Ndola, Copperbelt Province.
The visit also served as a familiarisation tour, providing Dr Kapulu with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Organisation’s operations, mandate, and ongoing activities.
Dr Kapulu was accompanied by Mr Stephen Malipa, Provincial Agricultural Officer, and was warmly received by Dr Muo Kasina, Executive Director of IRLCO-CSA, and members of staff.
Research Is Not Plug Play, but a Practice
During the visit, Dr Kapulu emphasised that “Research, just like the work that IRLCO-CSA does, is not plug and play, but a practice,” highlighting the importance of collaboration in agricultural research and the management of transboundary pests in Zambia and across the region.
He also expressed appreciation for IRLCO-CSA’s contribution to regional pest management since 1940, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation in protecting agricultural production and promoting food security across Central and Southern Africa.
The familiarisation tour reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening partnerships, deepening understanding of the Organisation’s work, and advancing effective transboundary pest management across Central and Southern Africa.
