Mozambique is in southeastern Africa, bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west, and Eswatini (Swaziland) and South Africa to the southwest. The country features a long coastline along the Indian Ocean, with beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and several islands. Its geography includes coastal lowlands, uplands in the center, and high plateaus in the northwest.
Mozambique’s economy is based on agriculture, industry, and services. Key agricultural products include cassava, sugarcane, maize, and cotton. The country is rich in natural resources, including coal, natural gas, and minerals such as titanium and tantalum.
The Buzi-Gorongosa Plains and Dimba Plains in Mozambique have been identified as breeding areas for Red Locusts.
Host Ministry
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADER) is a crucial governmental body tasked with promoting agricultural development, ensuring food security, and fostering rural development. The Ministry is the central body of the State Apparatus which, in accordance with the principles, objectives and tasks defined by the Government, directs, plans and ensures the implementation of legislation and policies in the field of agriculture, livestock, agricultural hydraulics, agro-forestry plantations, food security and coordination of rural development.
